Today we spread ourselves across two fayres for the first time. We had a car at The Grimstock Country House Hotel In Gilson Near Coleshill and a car at The Holiday Inn M6 Junction 10, Walsall. To be honest though we could have attended in excess of six fayres today! I think today must be the most popular day in the calendar for wedding fayres, I guess as it is a good few weeks after Christmas and a fair few weeks before the wedding season gets into full swing. We found both fayres OK but not as busy as we had hoped, probably due to the amount of fayres taking place. This weekend has been our busiest yet with two fayres today and one yesterday, all three fayres have led to bookings for us, more so for 2014 rather than 2013….. so if you’re getting married in 2013 please get in touch for a great deal and the promise we will not be beaten on price.
Today we exhibited at Hornton Grange which is part of the Birmingham University complex. It’s a superb venue and although less than a mile from the UK’s second largest city it has a real “country” feel about it. The website (www.venuebirmingham.com/meet/horntongrange) describes it a lot better than I can “It is an Edwardian style residence which stands in attractive and peaceful gardens and retains a wealth of features, from its impressive oak-panelled reception and bar to its ornate ceilings, mouldings and archways. All have been tastefully restored to enhance every feature”. The fayre hosted around 20 exhibitors and attracted in the region of 50 brides, we received a number of enquiries, including several for 2013, which were most welcome!
Last night we exhibited at The Castle Hotel in Tamworth. The wedding fayre was organised by Outside The Box Photography who are based in Glascote, Tamworth. As is often the case with evening wedding fayres it started at 6pm and finished at 9pm, the majority of the people though attend in the first hour or so. As expected the first hour was very busy and we had a really good flow of enquiries, it slowed down after 7pm but the fayre remained busy until well gone 8pm. The Castle Hotel is a really nice venue and, as you may have guessed(!), in very close proximity of the castle. We enjoyed our first wedding fayre in Tamworth, to the extent we have already booked to exhibit at the next fayre at The Castle Hotel, which is Wednesday 25th September 2013, put it in your diary!
Today we attended the Lichfield Gazette Wedding Fayre at The Cathedral Lodge Hotel. The hotel is superbly located within a few hundred yards of one of Staffordshires most famous landmarks. The hotel is currently going through some modernisation as the new owners look to take advantage of the prime location. We haven’t exhibited in Lichfield before and it presented us with some areas that we’ve not had exposure to before, to name but a few; Alrewas, Branston, Fradley and Newton Regis. The fayre was steady and not one of the busiest we’ve been to in recent weeks but I expect it to be one when there were good quality enquiries rather than quantity, time will tell! After the fayre we quickly had a look at The Cathedral and took a couple of photos. We’ve a couple of bookings for Lichfield Cathedral in 2014 but none yet for 2013, so if your getting married this year at Lichfield Cathedral……… 0121 378 5090 or email@example.com
The rain today didn’t dampen the spirits of the ever hardy Wedding Fayre goers in Sutton Coldfield. Kerry and Sue provided exhibitors with a superb opportunity to showcase their talents with an excellent flow of brides throughout the 5 hours. The fayre was one of the more varied that we have attended; a couple of the more interesting exhibitors inside were the caricature artist and slimming world! Outside our new umbrellas were put through their paces and I’m pleased to report back they all passed a tough test. On to the hat-trick. We spoke to at least half a dozen people today who had completed what we are calling The Wedding Fayre Hat-Trick; Swinfen Hall Hotel, Moor Hall Hotel and The Ramada Birmingham Sutton Coldfield. All 3 venues had Wedding Fayres today, and not only were the brides to be completing the feat some of the grooms to be were also involved, superb! In summary it was another great day for us, lots of enquiries and quite a variety; ranging from next month right through to December 2014. Right, best get cracking, aiming to get all the quotes out this evening by midnight, unlike last week!
Yesterday we attended what is consistently the largest Wedding Fayre in the West Midlands; The Midland Wedding Show at The Belfry. Every February and September the Midlands leading wedding exhibitors descend on one of the worlds most famous sporting venues. Closely following the exhibitors are the forever smiling brides to be with the not so smiling husbands to be. Who I am though to criticise the husbands to be? How many wedding fayres did I attend when I was getting married? It was less than 2, but more than 0, I had to go and look at where I was getting married!
The day was a long one, after a busy Saturday getting prepared Sunday kicked off before 7am. We had both cars in position and decorated by 7:30am, we then set up our internal stand and had breakfast. As the opening of the show approached the car park was filling up nicely and with the incentive of discounted entry before 12:00pm the queue to enter was in excess of 30 people for the first couple of hours. Over 500 brides attended the show, a phenomenal amount in just 5 and a half hours. Busy shows lead to busy Sunday evenings; every enquiry we received had a quotation sent via email the same day(well not quite, the last quotation left my outbox at 1:59am this morning!).
Thankfully today has been a little less hectic, apart from several people confirming bookings, thank you to them, your business is really appreciated. My final deed of the day was to confirm our place at the next Midland Wedding Show at The Belfry; Sunday 15th September 2013, put it in your diary! I can’t wait for it and another 20 hour day!
